I am very sorry to learn of your situation, John, and the fact that your wife walked out on you. I feel your stress with the unemployment as I am unemployed as well and benefits end next month. We have to keep faith that this will pass, but it is very important to be proactive. Are you still in your house? If so, think about getting someone in there to share expenses asap and rent a room from you - if you have 3 bedrooms, you can rent 2 of them. Or rent the entire house, and you rent a room somewhere else. Apply for Transitional Assistance - get on-line if you still have access (if not, utilize the library) and apply for assistance - rental assistance and food help. It is the MA government site. The government will help you. In the meantime, why don't you attend career fairs - I just attended one in Boston on Monday and got an interview while there. The pay is only $10 per hour (with bonus getting to $15) and I want to turn it down, but have no choice as it is better than nothing. Go to a staffing agency for help in securing temporary work, and once you get your foot in the door, you could end up becoming permanent. Best of luck to you and hope when I get back on here, you will have secured work.
